Services

Counseling Services

At some point in our lives we may feel the need to seek help and consultation whether to help us navigate life's pathways, find more satisfaction in our work and/or relationships, or to maximize our health and emotional well-being. Duke recognizes this and provides expert, confidential, and no-cost services through PAS. PAS is here to assist with a variety of challenges. Your PAS counselor will listen to your concerns, talk with you about them, and then work with you to determine a plan of action.

Crisis Response Services

Critical incidents occur when an employee or staff member experiences an unusual event which would be highly stressful to anyone (e.g., sudden or unexpected death, severe injury, domestic or personal violence, unexpected medical or surgical outcomes, or exposure to disaster). Events such as these or exposure to situations that resemble them, often cause people to experience distress and can challenge your ability to be resilient both personally and professionally. Regardless of the event, employees and managers need immediate expert support and guidance in the aftermath of a crisis or unexpected distressing event.

Management Consultation

Managers, supervisors, and those in a leadership role are vital to the success of our organization. As challenges arise around the technical or behavioral performance of an employee, leaders may desire to talk through a situation, strategize their approach, or gain added perspective. Organizational and staff issues are often associated with personal problems. PAS counselors specialize in communication and management of behavioral concerns in the workplace. We are available to discuss courses of action/options with you, as well as to coach you on how to approach sensitive matters. Although a counselor may recommend treatment, it is the employee’s decision to pursue counseling.
